Tele2 operator sues Ericsson over refusal to fulfill equipment supply contracts

It is noted that most of the underdelivered equipment relates to orders made long before the imposition of sanctions

MOSCOW, November 11. /TASS/. Mobile operator Tele2 has filed a lawsuit against Swedish telecommunications equipment manufacturer Ericsson with the Moscow Arbitration Court, a spokesperson with the operator told TASS. The corresponding claim has also been placed in the filing cabinet of arbitration cases.

The company said it filed the lawsuit due to the fact that Ericsson refused to fulfill its obligations to supply equipment.

"We initiated proceedings against Ericsson Corporation JSC and Satel TVK LLC (a Russian company that supplies equipment - TASS) due to the companies' refusal to fulfill their obligations to supply equipment," the Tele2 press service said.

They noted that most of the underdelivered equipment relates to orders made long before the imposition of sanctions.

"Tele2 appealed to the arbitration court to collect fines and penalties, as well as to oblige the defendants to fulfill the terms of the contracts," the press service stressed.

The representative with Tele2 explained that despite the willingness of the operator to find a compromise together with the former partner, after an eight-month long negotiation, Tele2 has not received any constructive proposals to resolve the situation.

In late August, Ericsson announced that it would phase out its activities in Russia. The company emphasized that all employees in Russia receive financial and social support. According to the telecommunication giant’s 2Q financial report, withdrawal from the Russian market has already cost Ericsson 1.
