North-South transport route may compete with Suez Canal — Russia’s First Deputy PM

BAKU, October 28. /TASS/. The North-South transport route can turn into a real competitor to the Suez Canal over time, Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov said on Friday.

"Meridian routes start playing a key role at present, the North-South route in the first instance," Belousov said. "The North-South route can become a real competitor to the Suez Canal over time," the official said.
