Russian senator pledges retaliation for Lithuania’s ban on transit to Kaliningrad

Earlier, the governor of the Kaliningrad Region reported that Lithuanian officials had informed the region’s railway operators of a ban on the transit of a range of goods through their territory due to the EU’s anti-Russian sanctions from June 18

MOSCOW, June 20. /TASS/. Russia may retaliate with tough measures following Lithuania’s decision to ban the transit of some goods to the Baltic Sea exclave of Kaliningrad, a senior senator warned on Monday.

"Lithuania’s attempt to actually block the Kaliningrad Region undermines Russian sovereignty over the region and may force Russia to retaliate with very tough and absolutely legitimate measures," Andrey Klishas, who chairs the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building, wrote on his Telegram channel.

Governor Anton Alikhanov of the Kaliningrad Region reported earlier that Lithuanian officials had informed the region’s railway operators of a ban on the transit of a range of goods through their territory due to the EU’s anti-Russian sanctions from June 18.
