DOHA, March 3. /TASS/. An armed conflict between the forces of the Taliban (a movement outlawed in Russia) controlling Afghanistan and Pakistani servicemen occurred near the Torkham checkpoint on the border between the two countries, the Etilaatroz newspaper reported, citing sources.

According to them, the conflict was initiated by the Pakistani Armed Forces, which launched several assaults on Taliban positions. During the fighting, three Pakistani servicemen were injured; there were no reported casualties on the Afghan side, but, as one of the sources noted, the conflict led to the destruction of several civilian houses on Afghan territory.

The Khaama Press Agency reported, quoting an unnamed Pakistani soldier, that the Taliban were the first to open fire. As a result of the fighting, residents of a nearby Pakistani village were forced to evacuate, and one of them was killed, the agency said.
