MOSCOW, February 23. /TASS/. Russian troops liberated two communities in the Donetsk region over the past day in the special military operation in Ukraine, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Sunday.
"Battlegroup South units liberated the settlement of Ulakly in the Donetsk People’s Republic through decisive offensive operations… Battlegroup Center units completed the liberation of the settlement of Novoandreyevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the ministry said in a statement.

Russia’s Battlegroup North inflicted roughly 30 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed six enemy armored combat vehicles in its area of responsibility in the Kharkov Region over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Battlegroup North units operating in the Kharkov direction inflicted losses on formations of a motorized infantry brigade of the Ukrainian army and a territorial defense brigade in areas near the settlements of Volchansk and Zolochev in the Kharkov Region," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army lost an estimated 30 personnel, six armored combat vehicles and two artillery guns, including a US-made 155mm M777 howitzer in that frontline area over the past 24 hours, it specified.

Russia’s Battlegroup West inflicted roughly 190 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed three enemy armored personnel carriers in its area of responsibility over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Battlegroup West units improved their tactical position and inflicted damage on manpower and equipment of five mechanized brigades and an assault brigade of the Ukrainian army, a territorial defense brigade and a National Guard brigade in areas near the settlements of Kupyansk, Dvurechnaya, Peschanoye, Shiykovka, Zagoruikovka, Novaya Kruglyakovka, Staroverovka and Zelyony Gai in the Kharkov Region, Yampolovka and Yampol in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army’s losses in that frontline area over the past 24 hours amounted to 190 personnel, two US-made M113 armored personnel carriers, a French-made VAB armored personnel carrier, five motor vehicles and four field artillery guns, including two NATO weapons, it specified.
In addition, Russian forces destroyed a Nota electronic warfare station and an ammunition depot of the Ukrainian army, it said.

During the last 24-hour period, Battlegroup South "inflicted losses on formations of six mechanized brigades and an airmobile brigade of the Ukrainian army in areas near the settlements of Seversk, Dronovka, Verkhnekamenskoye, Novomarkovo, Belogorovka, Chasov Yar, Stupochki and Konstantinovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army lost an estimated 165 personnel, a tank, an armored combat vehicle, four motor vehicles and four field artillery guns in that frontline area over the past 24 hours, it specified.
In addition, Russian forces destroyed an electronic reconnaissance station and two ammunition depots of the Ukrainian army, it said.

During the last 24-hour period, Battlegroup Center units "inflicted losses on manpower and equipment of seven mechanized brigades, a jaeger brigade, an assault brigade and an assault regiment of the Ukrainian army and two National Guard brigades in areas near the settlements of Kotlino, Zverevo, Sergeyevka, Lenina, Beryozovka, Shevchenko, Udachnoye, Uspenovka and Andreyevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army’s losses in that frontline area over the past 24 hours amounted to 365 personnel, an infantry fighting vehicle, two Kozak armored combat vehicles, five motor vehicles and three artillery guns, it specified.

Russia’s Battlegroup East inflicted more than 150 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed two enemy ammunition depots in its area of responsibility over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Battlegroup East units continued advancing deep into the enemy’s defenses and inflicted losses on formations of a tank brigade, two mechanized brigades, an air assault brigade of the Ukrainian army, a marine infantry brigade and two territorial defense brigades in areas near the settlements of Konstantinopol, Razliv, Bogatyr, Komar and Burlatskoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic and Gulyaipole in the Zaporozhye Region," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army’s losses in that frontline area over the past 24 hours totaled more than 150 personnel, a Novator armored combat vehicle, five motor vehicles and four field artillery guns, it specified.
In addition, Russian forces destroyed two ammunition depots of the Ukrainian army, it said.

Russia’s Battlegroup Dnepr inflicted roughly 85 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed two enemy ammunition depots in its area of responsibility over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Battlegroup Dnepr units inflicted damage on manpower and equipment of four mechanized brigades, a mountain assault brigade and three coastal defense brigades of the Ukrainian army in areas near the settlements of Respublikanets, Vysokoye, Sadovoye and Dneprovskoye in the Kherson Region, Lobkovoye and Novodanilovka in the Zaporozhye Region," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army lost an estimated 85 personnel, seven motor vehicles, two artillery guns and two electronic warfare stations in that frontline area over the past 24 hours, it specified.
In addition, Russian forces destroyed two ammunition depots of the Ukrainian army, it said.

Russian air defense forces shot down 73 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and four Hammer smart bombs over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Air defense capabilities shot down four French-made Hammer guided aerial bombs, a rocket of the US-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system and 73 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles," the ministry said.
Overall, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 656 Ukrainian warplanes, 283 helicopters, 44,263 unmanned aerial vehicles, 596 surface-to-air missile systems, 21,713 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,521 multiple rocket launchers, 21,980 field artillery guns and mortars and 32,059 special military motor vehicles since the start of the special military operation, the ministry reported.
