MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. International terrorist organizations and cyberattacks are common threats to the CIS countries, said participants in the 17th meeting of heads (chiefs of staff) of national anti-terrorist centers of the CIS member-states held in Moscow on Wednesday.
"During the meeting, assessments were made of the situation in countering terrorism and extremism in the CIS space. There was an exchange of anti-terrorist experience. A set of measures to strengthen and develop cooperation was defined," the press service of the CIS Anti-Terrorist Center said.
"The key factors influencing the emergence and development of terrorist threats to the Commonwealth’s member-states are the activity of international terrorist organizations in Afghanistan, in the Syrian-Iraqi zone, as well as events in Ukraine and the Middle East," the participants in the meeting said.
The terrorist risks significantly grow with the illegal trafficking of weapons and ammunition into the CIS territory, the use of the latest information and technical achievements - artificial intelligence technologies, unmanned systems and other robotic complexes - in criminal activities. Threats of cyberattacks against critical information infrastructure, control systems of industrial, fuel and energy complex and transportation facilities remain.
In addition, the Internet continues to be used for plotting, staging and financing terrorist activities, with a special focus on radicalizing youth. New or updated hate ideas and views are being propagated with the aim to breed discord among individuals, faiths and nationalities against their environment.
