Russian, Belarusian troops to train in Belarus in 2025

The decision to hold an exercise once in two years in one of the countries was made in 2009

MINSK, February 22. /TASS/. The regional grouping of Russian and Belarusian forces will hold an exercise in Belarus in 2025, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said.

"The next exercise will be held in 2025 on the territory of the Republic of Belarus," he told the Rossiya-24 TV channel.

The decision to hold an exercise once in two years in one of the countries was made in 2009. Last year the exercise was held at the level of the united headquarters of the regional grouping of forces, he said.

The joint forces have to ensure military security of the Union State of Russia and Belarus. "The grouping comprises practically all armed forces of Belarus and some formations of the Russian Aerospace Forces. It is not static and may change according to conditions," Khrenin said.

Russia and Belarus began to form the regional grouping of forces in 2022. Last December, the defense ministers of both countries signed a protocol specifying the deployment of Russian units and military infrastructure in Belarus.
