MOSCOW, December 27. /TASS/. Russia is ready to launch the production of defense items as part of the Make in India program, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a news conference following talks with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
"We understand and are ready to support their (New Delhi’s - TASS) initiative, producing military-purpose goods as part of the Make in India program. We are ready to cooperate on this issue," Russia’s top diplomat said.
The two top diplomats discussed "the outlook for military-technical cooperation, including joint production of modern weapons," according to Lavrov. "There is concrete progress on this track," he added.
"Our interaction here is of strategic nature, and expanding it meets the national interests of our countries as well as the interests of maintaining security on the Eurasian continent," Lavrov concluded.
