IAEA expert teams to rotate at three nuclear facilities in Ukraine this week — Grossi

An IAEA mission led by Rafael Grossi visited the ZNPP in September 2022, leaving several agency employees on site as observers

VIENNA, March 2./TASS/. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) plans to rotate its experts at the Rovno, South Ukraine and Khmelnitsky nuclear power plants in Ukraine this week, says a statement by Rafael Grossi, the agency's director general, posted on the IAEA website on Thursday.

"IAEA expert teams are also rotating at three other nuclear facilities in Ukraine this week, where the Agency established a continued presence in January: the Rivne, South Ukraine and Khmelnitsky NPPs," Director General Grossi said.

Earlier, Renat Karchaa, an adviser to the director general of Russia’s Rosenergoatom nuclear power plant operator, told TASS that a rotation of IAEA experts had been eventually carried out at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) at fourth attempt.

An IAEA mission led by Rafael Grossi visited the ZNPP in September 2022, leaving several agency employees on site as observers. Afterward, the agency published a report calling for the establishment of a safety zone around the ZNPP to prevent accidents arising from hostilities. The first rotation of an expert inspection team at the ZNPP took place in October 2022.
