CHISINAU, February 10. /TASS/. Moldova’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration has summoned the Russian ambassador in connection with a violation of the country's airspace, the ministry’s press service said on Friday.
"Foreign Minister Nicolae Popescu issued orders to urgently summon Russia’s ambassador, Oleg Vasnetsov, to notify the Russian side of an unacceptable violation of our airspace," the ministry's press service said.
According to Moldova’s Defense Ministry, on Friday morning, the missile crossed the airspace of the country over the village of Mocra in the Transnistrian region, and then over the village of Cosauti, the Soroca Region, and headed towards Ukraine.
In October last year, the Moldovan authorities accused Russia of violating the country's airspace with missiles fired at targets in Ukraine from warships in the Black Sea. The fall of fragments of S-300 anti-aircraft missiles on Moldova’s territory was reported. After the discovery of a fragment of one of such missiles near the village of Briceni on December 5, the Moldovan side lodged a protest with the Russian ambassador in Chisinau, Oleg Vasnetsov. A Russian embassy staffer was expelled.
