Russia to continue ensuring Mali’s defense needs, top diplomat vows

It is reported that Moscow will counter the West’s attempts to introduce colonial methods into international communication again

BAMAKO /Mali/, February 7. /TASS/. Russia will continue reliably ensuring Mali’s security and defense needs, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said after a meeting with interim President of Mali Assimi Goita on Tuesday.

"We reliably ensure Mali’s requirements with regard to providing its security and defense capability. The Malian leadership has obvious successes with our support in the fight against terrorism and we will necessarily continue this cooperation," Lavrov said, according to the video posted on the Telegram channel of Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

Moscow will counter the West’s attempts to introduce colonial methods into international communication again, the foreign minister said.

"Within the UN framework, we will firmly safeguard the fundamental principles of the sovereign equality of states and counter increasingly frequent attempts to introduce colonial measures into international communication again," he added.

The Russian delegation’s visit to Mali has yielded "very specific results," Lavrov said. "We will work on implementing them in full," Russia’s top diplomat pledged.
