As Stanislav Zas pointed out, "a danger of the spread of terrorist activity, weapons and drugs smuggling from Afghanistan to the territory of CSTO member states persists" in the region

YEREVAN, November 23. /TASS/. The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is ready to help normalize the situation at the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas said on Wednesday.

"In the Central Asian region, we pay special attention to normalizing the situation at the Tajik-Kyrgyz border and we believe that the CSTO has the required resources and experience for rendering assistance to our two member states in achieving this goal, if, of course, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan deem it necessary," he said at a joint meeting of the CSTO Foreign and Defense Ministers’ Councils and the organization’s Committee of Security Council Secretaries.

As the CSTO chief pointed out, "a danger of the spread of terrorist activity, weapons and drugs smuggling from Afghanistan to the territory of CSTO member states persists" in the region.

In this regard, "attention is paid to strengthening border security at the Tajik-Afghan border," he said.
