Russia’s latest combat exoskeleton to boost fire accuracy by 20%

The exoskeleton will also reduce the load when carrying the combat gear of up to 60 kg, which will create a major advantage for the teams of man-portable anti-tank and air defense missile systems and mountain warfare units that will be able to increase the amount of ammunition they carry and expand the range of weapons they use

MOSCOW, February 17. /TASS/. The latest domestic combat exoskeleton developed by the Central Research Institute of Precision Machine-Building (TsNIITochMash, part of the state tech corporation Rostec) increased automatic gun fire accuracy by 20% during trials, the Rostec press office told TASS on Wednesday.

"The use of exoskeletons boosts the combatant’s capabilities. For example, the trials have shown that the accuracy of fire from automatic weapons increases by 20%," the press office said in a statement.

The exoskeleton will also reduce the load when carrying the combat gear of up to 60 kg, which will create a major advantage for the teams of man-portable anti-tank and air defense missile systems and mountain warfare units that will be able to increase the amount of ammunition they carry and expand the range of weapons they use, the statement says.

"Jointly with our partners, such as the Mechanics Research Institute of Moscow State University, work is underway to develop semi-active and active types of exoskeletons and today we can speak about serious progress," Rostec said.

Although some technical problems still have to be resolved, "the results will not be long in coming," the Rostec press office stressed.
