Ukraine's public debt surges 4.5-fold during Zelensky’s tenure

As of the end of August 2026, the country’s public debt totaled $215.55 bln

MOSCOW, October 1. /TASS/. Ukraine's public debt has increased 4.5-fold during Vladimir Zelensky’s tenure, according to TASS calculations based on data from the country's Finance Ministry.

As of the end of May 2019 (Zelensky was inaugurated at the end of the same month), Ukraine’s national debt amounted to $47.1 bln calculated at the National Bank of Ukraine’s current dollar exchange rate, according to statistics. As of the end of August 2026, the country’s public debt totaled $215.55 bln.
