MOSCOW, May 19. /TASS/. Rafal Trzaskowski, a candidate from Poland’s ruling centrist Civic Coalition, with 31.36% support, and Karol Nawrocki, representing the opposition Law and Justice Party, with 29.54%, are heading into Poland’s runoff presidential election, according to the results of the National Electoral Commission’s tally of all ballots, Polish news outlets said.
Chairman of the country’s National Electoral Commission (PKW), Sylwester Marciniak, announced the official results at a press conference.
Slawomir Mentzen from the right-wing political party New Hope is in third place with 14.8%, followed by another right-wing candidate Grzegorz Braun with 6.3%.
They are followed by Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Holownia with 5%, and left-wing candidates Adrian Zandberg (4.8%) and Magdalena Biejat (4.2%). Other candidates received between 0.1% and 1.2% of the vote.
Abroad, after tallying 100% of the votes, Trzaskowski has received 36.82%, followed by Mentzen with 16.58% and Nawrocki with 16.07%.
It was noted that the voter turnout of 67.3% on May 18 was the highest since 1990. The runoff presidential election will be held in Poland on June 1.
