China supports any efforts for resolution in Ukraine — Foreign Ministry

Spokesman Guo Jiakun also hopes that all other interested parties will be able to participate in the negotiations in a timely manner

BEIJING, February 18. /TASS/. China is happy to see any efforts to establish peace in Ukraine, including Russian-American negotiations, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Guo Jiakun said.

"China is pleased to see any efforts aimed at establishing peace [in Ukraine], including the peace talks agreed upon by Russia and the United States," he told a news conference.

The diplomat also hopes that all other interested parties will also be able to participate in the negotiations in a timely manner.

Negotiations between the Russian and US delegations began in Riyadh on February 18. Russia is represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, presidential aide Yuriy Ushakov and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev. The US delegation includes Secretary of State Marco Rubio, national security adviser Mike Waltz and special envoy for the Middle East Stephen Witkoff.

Lavrov said on February 17 the presidents agreed it was necessary to resume dialogue on all issues that could be resolved with the participation of Russia and the United States as well as the Ukrainian resolution.
