CHISINAU, February 13. /TASS/. The Moldovan Foreign Ministry said its staff met with Russian Ambassador Oleg Ozerov and raised the issue of several unidentified drones that fell on the country's territory.
"During the meeting, the Moldovan side expressed its strong protest against these unacceptable violations, emphasizing that such incidents represent a serious threat to national security and citizens of the Republic of Moldova. It was stated to the Russian diplomat that such actions constitute a violation of national sovereignty and constitute another unfriendly gesture on the part of the Russian Federation," the ministry said in a statement posted to Telegram.
Ozerov afterward described the accusations that Russia owned the drones that fell in Moldova as unsubstantiated.
"I would warn the Moldovan authorities and the press against hasty conclusions. We are waiting for the results of the investigation. This situation must be dealt with. Accidents certainly do take place, so this all requires a separate investigation," the diplomat said.
To a question from TASS, he said that the evidence presented by Moldova about the purported ownership of the drones was inconclusive.
"Anyone can make inscriptions. We do not rule out provocations by third parties," the diplomat said.
According to Moldovan police, two drones crashed in the south of the country overnight. No casualties were reported. Another drone was found on Tuesday.
