MOSCOW, February 5. /TASS/. Palestine opposes US President Donald Trump's idea to permanently resettle Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to other Arab countries, Palestinian Ambassador to Moscow Abdel Hafiz Nofal told reporters.

"Not only Palestine [is against this proposal], but all Arab, Muslim countries are against it," he said on the sidelines of an event held by the Valdai International Discussion Club.

On February 4, Trump said at a joint news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, following their talks at the White House, that the US was considering long-term ownership of the Gaza Strip in order to develop it for the sake of peace in the Middle East. Also, he proposed resettling Palestinians from the enclave to other countries in the region, which he said could pay for it. Trump also indicated that the US is ready to send its troops to Gaza if it deems it necessary.
