DOHA, December 7. /TASS/. Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the Doha Forum in the Qatari capital, the office of the head of the Arab state reported.

"During the meeting, relations between the two countries, ways to strengthen and develop them were discussed," the statement said. The parties discussed "a number of issues of mutual interest," as well as "the most pressing issues on the agenda of the Forum."

The Doha Forum is an international conference taking place in the Qatari capital on December 7-8. Forum participants are discussing a wide range of issues related to international security, energy transition, and sustainable economic development. Behind the scenes at the Forum, the situation in Syria and the Gaza Strip have been key issues.
