BELGRADE, December 5. /TASS/. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is concerned that the Ukrainian conflict is ripe for more escalation, and hopes to avoid it.
The Serbian leader responded to the journalists’ request to comment on the remarks of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who said during a meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Valletta that the Cold War has been brought back to life, and could transition into a hot phase. Vucic underscored that he is "concerned over the further escalation of the conflict in Eastern Europe" and what "will happen in the upcoming five to six weeks."
"When everyone is talking about it, you know that these things are happening behind the scenes. I hope that there will be enough common sense and wisdom to avoid all that. Because people have no idea what catastrophe could follow. Ultimately, we must try to de-escalate the situation, not just keep going down this dangerous path," Vucic said, according to RTS.
The Serbian president also stated that various parties in Europe and the world are not ready to engage in a dialogue to solve all the problems that have piled up.
