Belarusian agency accuses West of creating collapse on country’s border

"The Belarusian side is trying to normalize the situation and provide basic comforts to people. The neighboring ‘democrats’ don't care about it," State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Alexander Volfovich said

MINSK, December 6. /TASS/. The West is creating a collapse on the border with Belarus as part of hybrid warfare, said Alexander Volfovich, state secretary of the Belarusian Security Council.

"Wars today are of a completely different nature. They have a hybrid effect: political, informational measures, economic sanctions," Volfovich said at a meeting with the personnel of the Brest Red Banner Border Group named after Dzerzhinsky, the BelTA news agency reported. "There are efforts to strangle Belarus. They are making an aggressor country out of Belarus, creating a collapse on the border."

He said that on the way to Brest he saw at a line of trucks at the border, and the license plates on the trucks were European. The official said the situation meant that Poland was causing losses to European companies.

"The Belarusian side is trying to normalize the situation and provide basic comforts to people. The neighboring ‘democrats’ don't care about it," Volfovich said. "We need to look for common ground, to find solutions so that people live in peace and as good neighbors."

According to the State Border Committee of Belarus, the number of trucks waiting to enter the EU countries from Belarus continues to rise, with more than 3,000 vehicles lined up at the border now. More than 1,240 heavy trucks are waiting to enter the EU through the Polish border crossing Kukuryki alone.

The EU countries that neighbor Belarus have suspended the work of several border crossings under various pretexts. Currently, four out of six crossings operate on the border between Belarus and Lithuania, and two out of six on the border with Poland.
