"We live in the real world, not a virtual one. So, if Azerbaijan is not welcome in the EU, then why knock on this door and bother the homeowners?" Ilham Aliyev noted

BAKU, December 6. /TASS/. Azerbaijan has no desire to become a member of the European Union, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.

"In the concept of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy, there is no goal to join the EU. This is a pragmatic approach, because we will never be accepted there, and the reasons are clear," Aliyev said, speaking at the international forum "Karabakh: Back Home After 30 Years. Accomplishments and Challenges" in Baku.

Aliyev added that Baku sees no point in trying to join the European Union. "We live in the real world, not a virtual one. So, if Azerbaijan is not welcome in the EU, then why knock on this door and bother the homeowners? We have found ways to establish cooperation and communication," he noted.
