US’ Blinken to take part in first ministerial meeting of Ukraine-NATO Council

The US Secretary of State will visit Brussels on November 27-29

WASHINGTON, November 25. /TASS/. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit the first meeting of foreign ministers of the Ukraine-NATO Council in Brussels, the Department of State announced.

According to the Department, Blinken will attend a meeting of NATO foreign ministers, including the first meeting of foreign ministers of the Ukraine-NATO Council, on November 27-29. The Secretary of State intends to state NATO’s support for Ukraine, discuss issues of "democracy and regional stability in the Western Balkans," and to touch upon the topics of the upcoming NATO Summit, which is expected to take place in July, 2024, in Washington.

Following the July NATO Summit in Vilnius, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the member states made three steps towards Ukraine: it was decided not to demand that Ukraine fulfills the Plan of action for membership in the alliance; a years-long program of military aid to Kiev has been approved, as well as the establishment of the Ukraine-NATO council. According to the Secretary General, Ukraine will be invited to join the bloc after all preconditions are fulfilled and after all allies achieve a consensus. The fulfillment of the preconditions will be assessed by NATO member states.
