CAIRO, November 24. /TASS/. Egyptian officials at the Rafah border crossing have confirmed the identities of the hostages released from Hamas captivity, Sky News Arabia reports.
According to the TV channel, after the hostages arrived at the Rafah crossing, Egyptian officials "verified their identities based on a list they have."
Officers from the Israel Securities Authority (ISA) met the former hostages at the Rafah checkpoint.
Twelve Thai nationals and 13 Israeli citizens held by Hamas in Gaza were released earlier. Accompanied by members of the International Committee of the Red Cross, they were brought to the Rafah crossing on the border with Egypt. Chairman of Egypt's State Information Service Diaa Rashwan said that "they will be handed over to Israel."
The Hamas movement announced on November 22 that an agreement on a four-day humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip had been reached through the mediation of Qatar and Egypt. The agreement stipulates the release of 50 women and children under the age of 19 who are held in Gaza in exchange for the release of 150 women and children under the age of 19 from Israeli prisons. The Gaza ceasefire took effect at 7:00 a.m. local time (5:00 a.m. GMT) on Friday.
