China concerned over Ukraine conflict possibly spiraling out of control — Foreign Ministry

China will continue to assist in holding peace talks on Ukraine, Qin Gang added

BEIJING, February 21. /TASS/. China is deeply concerned over the constant escalation of the crisis in Ukraine and the probability of it spiraling out of control, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang said Tuesday.

"China is deeply concerned over the conflict in Ukraine being constantly escalated and being in danger of spiraling out of control, he said, according to CCTV.

China will continue to assist in holding peace talks on Ukraine, the Foreign Minister added.

"We will continue to facilitate peace and assist in holding talks, we will continue to contribute Chinese wisdom to assist in a political settlement of the crisis in Ukraine, and to we will continue working with the international community in order to promote dialogue and consultations, elimination of concerns of all sides and achievement of universal security," he said.

Qin Gang also called on relevant states to immediately stop fueling the flames of the crisis in Ukraine and to stop creating ‘Ukraine today, Taiwan tomorrow’ hype.

"We call on relevant states to immediately stop fueling the flame, to stop holding China responsible, and to stop creating hype like ‘Ukraine today, Taiwan tomorrow’," he said.

The largest Chinese island of Taiwan has been managed by its own administration since 1949. The official Beijing considers the island a Chinese province.

The tensions around Taiwan escalated after US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taipei in August, 2022. The next day after the visit’s completion, the People’s Liberation Army of China commenced large-scale military maneuvers with missiles launches in six water areas around the island.
