NATO’s reaction to incident in Poland to depend on who fired rockets — source

Whether they were Russian missiles or Ukrainian air defense rockets, the source said

BRUSSELS, November 15. /TASS/. NATO’s reaction to the incident with rockets allegedly crossing into Poland near the border with Ukraine will depend on who fired them, a diplomatic source in the mission of a European country to Brussels told TASS on Tuesday.

"NATO’s reaction to the incident will depend on Poland’s statements on whom these rockets belonged to, whether they were Russian missiles or Ukrainian air defense rockets," the source said.

At the same time, the source noted that even if the rockets are identified as belonging to Ukraine’s air defense systems, NATO will place the moral blame for the incident on Russia, since "the incident would have never happened but for Russia’s aggression against Ukraine."

The diplomat refused to discuss possible parallels between this incident and the EU’s and NATO’s reaction to Ukraine’s shelling of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

According to reports from Poland, an emergency government meeting was called at 21:00 local time (23:00 Moscow time) following reports about two missiles hitting the Polish territory near the Ukrainian border. According to Poland’s Zet radio station, the missiles struck a grain dryer, killing two people.

The incident occurred in the village of Przewodow in the Lublin Voivodeship. Police, representatives from the Prosecutor’s Office and the army are working at the site. According to unofficial reports, fighter jets were scrambled. Rescuers confirmed the death of two people.

Meanwhile, the Russian defense ministry dismissed these reports as a "deliberate provocation," saying that the Russian military has performed no strikes targeting the Ukrainian-Polish border zone. "The wreckage published by Polish mass media from the scene in Przewodow have no relation to Russian firepower," it stressed.
