PARIS, April 13. /TASS/. Le Pen, a French presidential hopeful nominated by the National Rally party, on Wednesday pledged that, if elected for the job, she will cut French contributions to the EU almost by half to 5 billion euros.
"I want to reduce France’s contributions to the EU," he said at a news conference. "I think it’s necessary to cut them to 5 billion euros, whereas now they total about 8 billion to 9 billion euros on average."
She also said she planned, if elected, to "transform the EU into an alliance of European nations" that possess greater sovereignty.
France will hold a runoff election on April 24. Le Pen will compete with incumbent President Emmanuel Macron.
