Spain to expel about 25 Russian diplomats

According to Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarez, they pose a threat to the security interests of the country

MADRID, April 5. /TASS/. The Spanish government has decided to expel about 25 diplomats of the Russian embassy, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarez said at a press conference on Tuesday.

"I want to announce to you that this morning we decided to expel from Spain the Russian diplomats and the Russian embassy staff who pose a threat to the security interests of our country," he said, "We are talking about 25 people, we are completing the list at the moment." The minister said they would be given a few days to leave the country. Albarez also linked the decision to the events around Ukraine.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin in response to the appeal of the leaders of the republics of Donbass, decided to conduct a special military operation. After that, the US, EU, and UK, as well as several other states, announced that they were imposing sanctions against Russian individuals and legal entities.
