KIEV, July 19. /TASS/. Kiev’s court has again extended the arrest of RIA Novosti Ukraine Editor-in-Chief Kirill Vyshinsky for 60 days, until September 19. Thus, the next hearing in reporter Vyshinsky's case is scheduled for September 16 at 3pm. The decision was delivered by a judge of the Podolsky District Court.

"The panel of judges sees no grounds for granting the request of the defense to change the preventive measure," the judge read out the decision, adding that it can be appealed within seven days.

Russian human rights ombudswoman Tatyana Moskalkova characterized the Ukrainian court’s ruling as politically motivated.

"It was a predictable decision. I think it was a political rather than judicial decision. I will continue to do my best to have the journalist released," Moskalkova said as quoted by her press service.

Kirill Vyshinsky, RIA Novosti Ukraine editor-in-chief, was detained by Ukraine’s security service on May 15, 2018 on the charges of high treason and illegal possession of weapons. On May 17, the court in Kherson arrested him for two months. The restrictive measure has been prolonged several times ever since. Vyshinsky denies his guilt. If convicted, he may face a prison term of up to 15 years.
