NOVO-OGARYOVO, March 14. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has invited his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro to attend Victory Day celebrations on May 9 in Moscow during a videoconference. He also highlighted the contribution of Caracas to achieving a common Allied Victory in 1945.
"I would be glad to see you in Moscow at the celebrations on the occasion of May 9, marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War," Putin said.
"We remember that during the difficult years of struggle against fascism, Venezuela sided with the anti-Hitler coalition," he said.
"Supplies of Venezuelan fuel and lubricants, sent to our country through the lend-lease system, ensuring the operation of aviation and other military equipment, were crucial."
The Russian president invited leaders of many countries to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. Some friendly countries from among those who fought against German Nazism, Italian fascism and Japanese militarism will send parade crews to participate in the parade on Red Square.
