Russian prosecutors designate three Canadian NGOs as undesirable

According to prosecutors, in 2022 and 2023 the two institutions conducted a large number of events, interviews by its staff, and meetings with leaders of unfriendly countries that have an anti-Russian bias

MOSCOW, March 18. /TASS/. The Russian Prosecutor General's Office said it has designated three Canadian non-governmental organizations as undesirable in the country.

The groups are the Munk school of Global Affairs and Public Policy, the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs and Russian Canadian Democratic Alliance.

The Munk school is part of the University of Toronto, while the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs is at Carleton University.

"The above organizations are effectively participants in the media campaign that Western countries are leading to discredit the Russian Federation and incite anti-Russian sentiments," the Prosecutor General's Office said about the schools.

According to prosecutors, in 2022 and 2023 the two institutions conducted a large number of events, interviews by its staff, and meetings with leaders of unfriendly countries that have an anti-Russian bias.

Russian Canadian Democratic Alliance was established in 2022 with the stated goal of promoting human rights and freedoms in Russia.

"But it is obvious that its activities are aimed at consolidating Russians living in Canada to engage them in media and propaganda campaigns to discredit Russia's foreign and internal policy, and propaganda of the banned international non-governmental LGBT movement. It systematically published materials on the Internet and in news media about violently changing the foundations of Russia's constitutional order, as well as materials discrediting the Russian Armed Forces, including calls to increase deliveries of Western weapons to Ukraine," prosecutors said.
