BERLIN, December 3. /TASS/. About 560 out of about 880 scheduled flights will be canceled at Munich Airport on Sunday, following a heavy snowfall the day before, the DPA news service said, citing an airport spokesman.
Flights resumed at 6:00 a.m. (5:00 a.m. GMT), but the airport said there will still be restrictions and asked passengers to check the status of flights with their airlines.
All flights were suspended on Saturday. A small private jet froze into the runway.
On Sunday, maintenance staff continued to clear airport grounds.
The day before, bad weather ground traffic to a halt in Munich. According to meteorologists, it was the heaviest snowfall since 2006.
The snowfall also affected railroad traffic. Fallen trees blocked rail tracks in some spots. Train traffic to and from Munich's main station was suspended. Some passengers had to spend last night onboard trains. The subway, buses and streetcars also suspended operations.
