Western countries deaf to truth about children evacuated from Ukraine — Russia's UN envoy

"It is you, not us, who impose censorship on the Security Council. I want the journalists present here to put this on record," Vasily Nebenzya stressed, addressing the representatives of Western countries

UNITED NATIONS, April 5. /TASS/. The Western delegations at the UN Security Council do not want to hear the truth about the situation involving children evacuated from the conflict zone in Ukraine, Russia's permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, said on Wednesday at an informal Arria-formula meeting of the UN Security Council convened at Russia’s initiative. He was commenting on the walkout staged by several Western countries during a presentation by speakers invited by Russia.

"We organized our meeting in order to tell the truth about this situation. To let those who are directly involved have first-hand knowledge. This is what informal Arria-formula meetings of the Security Council are all about. But you don't want to listen and to hear," he said.

"It is clear that you find this unpleasant and that it contradicts your narrative," Nebenzya pointed out. "You don't need the truth, you have already reached a verdict based on false facts and speculation, as it was the case with Skripals, with the alleged poisoning of Navalny, and with the vile provocation in Bucha. This list can be prolonged. You are quite comfortable living in that cocoon of lies and keeping your public inside it, too. You dismiss anything that threatens it as Russian propaganda, and we will hear about this, of course."

"It is you, not us, who impose censorship on the Security Council. I want the journalists present here to put this on record," Nebenzya stressed, addressing the representatives of Western countries.

Russia's ombudsperson for children's rights, Maria Lvova-Belova, and DPR's human rights ombudsperson Darya Morozova took part in the informal meeting of the UN Security Council on Tuesday at Russia's invitation. Representatives of a number of Western delegations left the room during their speeches.
