ROSTOV-ON-DON, May 30. /TASS/. Eleven terror attacks, including four under the so-called Kerch scenario, have been prevented in Russia’s Southern Federal District, Andrey Kikot, Russia’s deputy prosecutor general, said on Monday.
"Russia’s mass media and communications watchdog has blocked access to nearly 1,500 destructive internet resources. Eleven terror attack, including four under the Kerch scenario (an attack on a polytechnic college in Kerch in October 2018 - TASS), have been prevented on the federal district’s territory jointly with law enforcement agencies. Thus, two minors were sentenced to prison terms in October 2021 for plotting explosions at Kerch’s school and college with the use of self-made explosive devices in 2020," he said.
According to Kikot, a top priority task today is to prevent the spread of fake information on the internet. "Today, it is prevention of the spread of false reports about the special operation in Ukraine discrediting the Russian armed forces. Based on prosecutor’s requests, the mass media watchdog has banned access to more than 600 internet pages containing such information in the federal district. Along with that, access to 800 internet pages containing instructions on how to organize protest actions, make explosive devices, and propaganda of extremism has been banned," he said.
