Ukrainian authorities hold hostage group of Indian students in Kharkov — Defense Ministry

It is reported that the students are told to leave Ukraine across the Ukrainian-Polish border

MOSCOW, March 2. /TASS/. The Ukrainian authorities have forcibly detained a large group of Indian students in Kharkov, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Wednesday.

"According to the information we have, in Kharkov the Ukrainian authorities are forcibly detaining a large group of Indian students who want to leave Ukrainian territory for Belgorod," he said.

According to Konashenkov, in fact, they are being held hostage and are offered to leave Ukraine across the Ukrainian-Polish border. They are told to go through the territory where hostilities are raging.

"The armed forces are ready to take all necessary measures to safely evacuate Indian citizens and send them home from Russian territory on our military transport planes or Indian aircraft, as was suggested by the Indian side," Konashenkov said.
