New info on Nord Stream sabotage underscores need for inquiry — diplomat

"We hope that the Security Council draft resolution we propose in this regard will help the Council to contribute constructively into this process," Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said

UNITED NATIONS, March 15. /TASS/. New information regarding last year’s sabotage attacks against the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines underscores the need for conducting an international investigation into the matter, Russia’s envoy to the UN said on Tuesday.

Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya made the statement in a letter to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and members of the UN Security Council and the General Assembly.

The letter, attached to Russia’s correspondence with Germany, Denmark and Sweden on Nord Stream incidents, says: "The constant inflow of new information from various sources, including about an object that may be a part of an explosive device found near the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline on 21 February 2023, raises new questions on the circumstances of the incident and further amplifies the necessity for a comprehensive, professional, unbiased, transparent international investigation under the auspices of the United Nations."

"We hope that the Security Council draft resolution we propose in this regard will help the Council to contribute constructively into this process. We call on Member States to support and cosponsor our draft," Nebenzya added.
