Putin emphasizes need to rapidly bolster Russia’s domestic technologies

There is a need to work on that proactively, to deal intensively with the creation of unique and globally competitive domestic solutions in medicine, the ecology, agriculture, industry and security, the head of state noted

MOSCOW, February 8. /TASS/. Russia needs to spur on its domestic critical technologies, President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday when bestowing science and innovation awards to young academics.

"In a short period of time, Russia will have to bring its own critical technologies in science, IT, industry, transportation, development of medications and new materials, and other areas crucial for the country, to a new level to ensure technological sovereignty and independence in the production of any critical products for us," Putin stressed.

There is a need to work on that proactively, to deal intensively with the creation of unique and globally competitive domestic solutions in medicine, the ecology, agriculture, industry and security, the head of state noted.

"Here what’s needed is to be creative, to be pioneers in the literal sense. We have the groundwork to do so, [thanks to] the solid scientific traditions and firm foundations established by predecessors," he emphasized.
