NEW DELHI, April 30. /TASS/. The National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) has recommended that Russia’s Sputnik Light single-dose vaccine should be used as a booster against coronavirus, ANI news agency reported on Saturday, citing official sources.
"The NTAGI’s Standing Technical Sub Committee that held a meeting on Friday has recommended taking Sputnik Light as a precaution dose which has the same component of Sputnik V first dose," the news agency said citing sources.
The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) announced in February that the Sputnik Light single-dose COVID jab had been authorized in India. Sputnik Light has been registered in more than 30 countries. A number of countries, including Argentina, Bahrain, the UAE, San Marino and the Philippines, have already authorized Sputnik Light as a universal booster.
According to the World Health Organization, India has reported over 43 million Covid cases and 523,000 coronavirus-associated deaths. The government has rolled out a COVID-19 vaccination campaign among citizens. According to the Health Ministry, more than 1.8 billion doses of coronavirus vaccine have been administered in India, with a population of over 1.3 billion people. A total of 96% of adults over 18 years old have received at least a first dose of the Covid vaccine.
