MOSCOW, December 9. /TASS/. The Syrian Embassy in Russia has confirmed to TASS that former Syrian President Bashar Assad is currently in Russia’s capital.
"Yes, he is there, in Moscow," the embassy said. It added that the agency had no contacts with Assad.
As the Russian Foreign Ministry previously said in a statement, Assad stepped down as the president of Syria and left the country, issuing an order to transfer power peacefully. A source in the Kremlin later reported that Assad, along with his family, had arrived in Moscow.
