Kremlin condemns report on Storm Shadow missile use against Russian targets as escalation

Dmitry Peskov chose not to respond to a question about whether Russia has proof that UK-made Storm Shadow missiles had been used against it

MOSCOW, November 21. /TASS/. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has commented on a report by Bloomberg about using Storm Shadow missiles on a target in Russia’s bordering Kursk Region, branding it as a new escalation.

"A new escalation is underway. This is a very irresponsible position by the outgoing administration [of US President Joe Biden]," the Kremlin official said, replying to a question by reporters as to how the Kremlin sees this development, given confirmed reports of ATACMS missiles being used for strikes on Russian soil.

Peskov chose not to respond to a question about whether Russia has proof that UK-made Storm Shadow missiles had been used against it. Earlier, several media outlets reported strikes using these missiles. "Right now, I would not want to comment further on the subject, which is the purview of our military agency," Putin’s press secretary explained.

On Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry said that overnight on November 19, Ukraine attacked Russia’s bordering Bryansk Region with six ATACMS missiles. Five of them were shot down by Russia’s Pantsir and S-400 missile defense systems and one was damaged.
