FSB informs Putin about thwarted hijacking of Russian military helicopter — Kremlin

According to Dmitry Peskov, the president is to decide whether the Russian counterintelligence officers will be recognized

MOSCOW, November 11. /TASS/. Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has reported to President Vladimir Putin about how it prevented Kiev’s attempt to hijack a Russian electronic warfare helicopter, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed.

"Of course, the special services informed the supreme commander-in-chief before making this information public. It is absolutely obvious," Peskov told reporters.

He said whether the Russian counterintelligence officers will be recognized will be up to the president to decide. "Clearly, people behind such successful operations are far from publicity, therefore, information [about any recognition of their work] will not necessarily be made public," he explained.

Earlier on Monday, the FSB said it had disrupted an operation by Ukraine’s military intelligence to hijack an electronic warfare helicopter of the Russian Aerospace Forces. During the operation, Russian counterintelligence uncovered the sites of Ukrainian air defenses and troops, which were later targeted.
