‘Let him dream’: Lavrov on Zelensky demanding to go back to 2022 borders

The Russian foreign minister underscored that the so-called 10-point Zelensky ‘peace formula’ is effectively an ultimatum that demands that Russia surrender

MOSCOW, April 4. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov commented on Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s remark about the need to return to 2022 borders by saying that he had the right to "dream."

Speaking to reporters, Lavrov said that he discussed the West’s plans to pull more countries into the initiative involving Zelensky’s "peace formula" with foreign envoys.

"We have discussed in detail the West’s concrete designs to put as many countries of the Global South, the Global East, the global majority into promotion of the so-called 10-point Zelensky ‘peace formula’," the Minister noted.

"The formula is well known, it has been published; it is effectively an ultimatum that demands that Russia surrender, capitulate, withdraw to the 1991 borders," Lavrov said. "Interestingly, recently, Mr. Zelensky ‘gracefully’ said that one could start with the February, 2022 borders. Well, let him dream."

According to Lavrov, this ultimatum demands to "try the Russian leadership by a tribunal, to force the Russian leadership to pay reparations, to restrain the Russian leadership in its capability to defend its own territory, to limit its weapons."

"A lot of things are discussed there. And, in addition to this ultimatum, the ‘formula’ includes such seemingly innocent clauses as ‘food security’, ‘energy security’, ‘nuclear security’, ‘exchange of captives’ and ‘humanitarian issues’," the foreign minister pointed out.
