Medvedev says his sharp attitude toward West driven by its unfair treatment of Russia

Speaking of his own assessments and feelings, the politician noted that they have not changed in any fundamental way

MOSCOW, February 22. /TASS/. Moscow’s assessments of Western countries’ actions over recent years have grown harsher because Russia has been unfairly treated, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with Russian media, including TASS.

When asked to comment on his harsh remarks about Western countries on social networks, the politician noted: "In the current situation, the assessments [of the West] have changed for one simple reason: because we think that we, the Russian Federation, have been treated unfairly, therefore harsher assessments have emerged."

Speaking of his own assessments and feelings, Medvedev noted that they have not changed in any fundamental way. "Probably, like any other politician, I used to have illusions, some slightly different perceptions, but they have not changed much," he divulged.

"Quite recently, [Russian] President [Vladimir Putin] did say that we have been ingratiating ourselves to them (the West - TASS) for too long. Well, yes, probably, our country did have such a stage of development," the politician said, noting that "we should have responded to them earlier on all issues in the toughest manner possible."
