MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. The EU countries themselves imposed the current tone of animosity in relations with Russia and, given Brussels’ hostile attitude, any prospects for restoring ties are currently out of the question, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with top Brazilian newspaper O Globo.
"The EU countries imposed the current animosity in relations with Russia all by themselves. So, it is up to them to decide what to do with this choice. Given Brussels’ stated intention to deliver a 'strategic defeat' against us, any prospects for restoring relations are simply out of the question," the top Russian diplomat said, replying to a question about the possibility of normalizing ties between Moscow and European countries in the near future.
According to Lavrov, if European countries abandon their Russophobic policy course and instead hew to more realistic ideas on the new principles for relations, Russia will study them. "We will determine what to do based on our national interest," he emphasized.
