Opening of Russian Embassy in Equatorial Guinea to strengthen bilateral ties — statement

MOSCOW, December 13. /TASS/. Russian Special Presidential Envoy for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov met with Foreign Minister of Equatorial Guinea Simeon Oyono Esono Angue; the sides pointed out that the opening of the Russian embassy in this country will make it possible to ramp up the work on strengthening of relations between the two states, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced.

"The sides expressed the single opinion that the upcoming opening of the Russian embassy in Malabo will make it possible to significantly ramp up the work on strengthening and expansion of bilateral ties in trade, economy, investment, humanitarian and other areas," the Ministry said.

The sides also discussed bilateral issues with an emphasis on the agreements, achieved during President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo’s visit to Moscow.

"Moscow and Malabo reaffirmed their aim to deepen the political dialogue and to maintain close foreign policy coordination in the UN and on other international platforms," the Ministry concluded.

Previously, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree to reopen embassies in Equatorial Guinea and in Burkina Faso.
