MOSCOW, November 27. /TASS/. Russia appreciates Brazil's independent foreign policy and supports its wish to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.
"We appreciate Brazil's independent foreign policy course aimed at reforming the institutions of global governance and increasing the representation of developing states," he said at the opening of an exhibition timed for the 195th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
"As we have repeatedly said, Russia supports Brazil's wish to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council," Lavrov said.
"We maintain fruitful and constructive interaction at the UN and its Security Council," Lavrov added.
The exposition features archival documents concerning key events in bilateral relations. For instance, materials on the presentation of credentials by ambassadors, messages by top officials and copies of agreements in various areas of cooperation are on display. A photo chronicle of visits by foreign ministers and heads of government and presidents of Russia and Brazil is also presented to the general public. Visitors can see photos taken during the trip of Brazil’s football star Pele to the USSR and matches of the Brazilian national team at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
