UNSC may discuss biolabs in Ukraine again — senior Russian diplomat

Last March, Russia’s State Duma and Federation Council adopted a resolution to conduct a parliamentary investigation of the US biolaboratories in Ukraine and to create a joint commission for such an investigation

MOSCOW, April 12. /TASS/. Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov has not ruled out another discussion of US biolaboratories in Ukraine in the UN Security Council.

"If there are further shifts in the UN Security Council towards a better understanding of our approach, we will also work on this. I do not rule out more discussions there on this issue. This subject is not closed. Of course, we will deal with this in cooperation with all relevant agencies," Ryabkov told the Federation Council of Wednesday.

Ryabkov recalled that Russia had developed and submitted to the UN Security Council a draft resolution on the establishment of an international commission to investigate US biolaboratories in Ukraine, and at the November 2, 2022 meeting, despite the fact that the United States, Britain and France voted against the draft, "a number of other states did not go along with the United States and preferred to abstain."

"This is a reflection of many capitals’ sensible approach to the fact that such an investigation is required," Ryabkov said.

He stressed that Moscow would push ahead with its efforts at multilateral platforms to investigate the biolaboratories in Ukraine and would do so "primarily within the framework of the BTWC."

"We will press for a settlement of the current situation and the claims we have," Ryabkov concluded.

Last March, Russia’s State Duma and Federation Council adopted a resolution to conduct a parliamentary investigation of the US biolaboratories in Ukraine and to create a joint commission for such an investigation. The preparation procedures for the parliamentary probe began on the basis of an instruction from Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin. The commission was composed of 14 lower house members and as many upper house members. State Duma Deputy Speaker Irina Yarovaya and Federation Council Deputy Speaker Konstantin Kosachev are the commission’s co-chairs.
