MOSCOW, March 31. /TASS/. The second Russia-Africa summit to be held in St. Petersburg in July will help the sides strengthen relations and explore ideas to promote a new, multipolar world, Namibian President Hage Geingob told TASS in an exclusive interview.
"This kind of conference is very important. Old relationships can be re-established, and <…> [the sides can] discuss seriously areas in which Russian people can come and help Namibia, Africa. And also look at how to forge ahead the new world," he said.
The president also pointed to Russia and Africa’s need to look at the prospects for joint development, without antagonizing anyone, and stressed that friendship between the sides must continue.
"The world is getting very complicated for small countries. [The] world is now divided, not into two blocs. I am worried about the world becoming a unipolar system. A unipolar system is when one power can dictate and as for small countries like us, we’re finished. <…> We believe in a bipolar system or multilateralism," he concluded.
The second Russia-Africa summit and economic forum is scheduled to take place in St. Petersburg from July 26 to July 29. The debut summit was held in Sochi on October 22-24, 2019. The event’s motto was "For Peace, Security and Development."
