US bent on widening involvement in Russia-Ukraine conflict, says Kremlin

On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden delivered his annual State of the Union address to the House of the Representatives and the Senate

MOSCOW, February 9. /TASS/. The United States is exhibiting its political fervor to broaden its involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday.

"We certainly find it to be a big-picture issue that the US is continuing its hostility towards our country. The US sees us as an adversary, demonstrating its political zeal to continue widening its involvement in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Every time, the US <…> refuses to demonstrate any willingness to recognize Russia’s legitimate concerns," he pointed out. "Conversely, it fuels further escalation," Peskov added.

On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden delivered his annual State of the Union address to the House of the Representatives and the Senate. He claimed that Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine "has been a test for the ages" for the US and the world. The White House occupant also stated that the country’s political forces remained united in their support for Kiev. However, this year’s address mentioned China more often than last year’s.

"To be fair, it should be said that it’s not the first time that priorities have been set this way in a concept, a strategy or a doctrine. This has been going on for years and apart from Biden, other US senior officials also set priorities this way," Peskov commented on the matter.
