Moscow committed to dialogue with Moldova — diplomat

"Despite the negative tendencies in Moldova’s foreign and domestic policy, a complete termination of cooperation with this country is out of the question," Maria Zakharova stressed

MOSCOW, January 27. /TASS/. Russia is open to a constructive and pragmatic dialogue with Moldova and has no plans to sever ties with the country, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Friday.

"Despite the negative tendencies in Moldova’s foreign and domestic policy, a complete termination of cooperation with this country is out of the question," she said, adding that Moscow is "open to constructive and pragmatic cooperation with Moldova."

"We maintain trade-and-economic ties and continue humanitarian cooperation. Embassies are working, bilateral accords and agreements within the CIS are in force," she said.

However, she noted that after the launch of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, Moldova’s authorities had sided with the Kiev regime and suspended dialogue with Russia. Official Chisinau, according to Zakharova, de facto is practicing anti-Russian sanctions in the banking sector, in the area of re-export of Russian goods, is supporting the West’s and the Kiev regime’s anti-Russian initiatives in international formats, and is cooperating with NATO.

"Such actions by Chisinau cause profound concern and have a negative impact on bilateral relations," she stressed. "The West’s assistance is rooted in its own interests and has little to do with the needs of the Moldovan people. They don’t care about the Moldovan people, about the Ukrainian people, or about their own peoples, as far as we can see.".
